Thales Inaugurates a New SOC in the Netherlands
Dutch Security Operating Center will enables Thales to detect and deal with security incidents around the clock, 24/7, and 365 days a year wherever they may arise
During the Cybersecurity Summit in The Hague Security Delta on 5 October, Thales Cybersecurity inaugurated its Dutch Security Operating Center (SOC). The SOC, located in the Thales Nederland branch of Huizen, enables Thales to detect and deal with security incidents around the clock, 24/7, and 365 days a year wherever they may arise.
The Thales Dutch SOC branch is equipped for application in ABDO environments (General Security Requirements relating to Defense Orders). Security Operations Centres are an important part of the cybersecurity defence lines of organisations and aim at the timely detection of security incidents. Detection at an early stage ensures that the consequential damage (reputation, business continuity) is minimized or even entirely prevented. Currently, Thales operates SOCs in the Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom and plans to add at least one international centre each year. This global knowledge, expertise and collected cyber intelligence can be put to benefit the security needs and business continuity of all customers.
To ensure that organisations optimize their monitoring capability, it is important to share a great deal of knowledge and information. To bring this about, the cyber security community needs to carry the discussion with the stakeholders beyond the mere technical aspects. Therefore, the Cybersecurity Summit at HSD was the appropriate occasion for Thales to start a number of closed meetings in which the company, together with other The Hague Security Delta partners, wishes to exchange information and field experience with the business sector.
Thales is also the first customer of its own Dutch SOC. “Practice what you preach,” Gerben Edelijn, Thales Nederland CEO, states. “For many parties, Thales is an attractive target. We frequently take digital fire, too. But then again, we can bank on 40 years of experience, of which 15 years with our SOCs. We have 1,500 cyber experts working in these centers who exchange information worldwide on an ongoing basis. We are 100% confident in our own product and we like to show that by all means.”
